I am starting up a new project agian.. This time it is about making art and learning from the process.
I have recently bought Affinity photo and the workbook for it and the making of the Snow Queen task in the book got me hooked on making this kind of art. I have now made 3 pieces (included the Snow Queen) I have named my 2 own pieces, The Floral Duchess & The Gilded one, you can guess who is who down below. Will be making more :)

An update from my creative life. I have sold of my Sony and the 85mm, so the project of sticking with that for a year is dead. But it is not the end, I've gotten another camera and I am back explore my love for black and white and making artsy/abstract photos with it. I also recently visited the abandoned mine in Knaben, Norway. I am really liking what is coming for my last walk there, and I think I wil make myself an art/photo project of shooting abondoned places and items as signs of life. So I leave you with my two recently edited photos from that trip, but more are coming soon! I am also working on a new portfolio page for my portraits, It is not growing as fast as I would like as I am not that good at asking people for portraits, so it will mostly be family and friends in the beginning. Have a happy new year! AuthorKevin Rugland, Artistic documentary photographer based in Kvinesdal, Norway. 85MMThe 85MM project is all about sticking with one camera and one lens for a whole year. The 85mm is mostly known as a portrait lens, and I don't shot much portrait other then of my daughter. The reason for picking this focal length is that I got inspired by Professor Hines (professorhines.com) as he used the 85mm Zeiss Batis lens for much of he's work. I ended up buying this lens and a Sony a7R2 camera for this project. I hope to learn to use this focal length in many other way's other then portrait, and to improve as a photographer and see the world in a more creative way. SurgeThe Surge project came to life as way to photograph during the evening, the time of day when I have a chance to get out when the kid is asleep.
Yesterday I went out to try and capture some pattern's or figures in the sand, as I was inspired by a recent lecture with Morten Leine, a norwegian fine-art photographer. But when arriving at the beach it was to dark and the sea too calm. So i decide to play with some long exposure, but remembered that I had left my tripod at home. So as another idea I wanted to try my hand at some light painting or ICM (intentional camera movement). So went to the nearby place where I knew there would be some static lights, Fedabroen in the fjord of Feda. Here I made some very interesting pictures by drawing with my camera and processing it in PS. And thus the project Surge was born. Not sure where it will and up or when i want to end it. But I want to explore this type of photography in more depth as well as experiment more in different places. Stay tuned :) I hope this website will survive longer, like my others did not. |
